INTRODUCTION:
First and foremost we would like to welcome you to the HOLT RAMS CROSS COUNTRY / TRACK AND FIELD PROGRAM! The start of a new year brings the excitement of new opportunities and the anticipation of great success. Athletics (especially sports like cross country and track & field) are a tremendous way to compete at a high level, test yourself, build lifelong positive friendships, learn valuable life lessons, and have fun. We look forward to another positive, productive, and amazing season!
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Holt High School competes as a member of the CAAC Blue Conference and is classified as a MHSAA Division 1 team. We welcome ALL ATHLETES to our program and do not make cuts (meaning that everyone who makes the commitment to run makes the team). Our aim is to be highly competitive within our conference, in our region, and throughout the state. We want our runners to be focused, tough, highly-motivated, goal-oriented, well-rounded, and people of high character.
The foundation of our science-based training is to build a strong aerobic base (for as long as possible) in combination with strength/core training, specific tiered speed work (tempo, fartlek, interval - scheduled specifically throughout our season), and conclude with a strategic taper toward our Conference/Regional Championships.
